outfit of the day- Old years ensesmble

Top: J.Crew
Skirt: J. Crew
Necklace: handmade by me!
Clutch: Lilly Pulitzer
Shoes: AK Anne Klein

I really love this outfit because it's simple yet elegant. You may not be able to see this but the gold in the shoes and the clutch are the exact same colour. The mesh sleeves add some soft girlyness and the daisy chain beaded necklace adds some interest in the neck area . A cute scarf would look nice in place of the necklace in a cooler climate. The shoes are neutral and are used to tie in the purse with its splash of colour (used for interest).

Guess what I'm wearing tonight!

new nail polish

OMG!
I love Christmas time for so many reasons. Everywhere looks so pretty, all the festive music, the fashion don't s you can get away with, presents, shopping, family fun. There's so much. One thing ther's always plenty of... Nail polish!!!

first of all, things I need to get for christmas:
1) Nails Inc's Magnetic Nail Polish. So cool! Not even sure which I like the best. On the other hand, It's a little pricey.

2) OPI's newest line of polishes. The Muppets! I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of the Muppets and I'm psyched for the new movie. Definitely loving 'gone gonzo' and 'divine swine'

3) Not a big fan of Nicki Minaj even though she's Trini, but I just found out she's releasing a line of nail polish with OPI in January and I really like the 'Super Bass Shatter'

4) There's this new nail stamping thing-a-mabob called Konad. I can't really describe it so just check it out yourself. But it looks like it may be cheaper to buy individual plates and the stamper and scraper.

1 thing you should get for Christmas:
-China Glaze's Oxidized Aqua crackle. It's a decent price at $7. Don't forget it's an awesome light aqua, shimmery and I prefer how this goes on to OPI's shatter. Plus it's festive for the holiday season!

*Usually and don't have time to go to the cinema, and if I do it's not my first priority, I always have better things to do, but I'm gonna make this my priority to see the Muppets!

Easy to make ribbon headbands

Hey, hey hey!
If you don't want hair in your face, I have a cute, stylish, preppy, cheap and easy way to do it. Ribbon headbands!
What you need:
  •  less than a foot and a half but more than a foot of pretty ribbon, 1/4 to 2 inches wide (a good place to get cheap, pretty ribbon is Micheal's, they have 3 yard rolls for $1!)
  • a hair elastic (the ones without the metal parts are better) of any colour
  • a glue gun, needle and thread or sewing machine (optional)

here's what you do

1. Cut the ribbon so it goes almost all the way around your head, leaving approximately an inch of space. (Keep in mind you want the hair elastic to stretch a bit so it keeps your hair back.)

2. With the wrong side of the ribbon facing up, take the end and pass it under the hair elastic and through the centre.

3. Now either tie the end around the elastic, or for a more finished look, pull about 1-2 inches (depending on how long you cut it) of ribbon through the middle of the elastic, and glue-gun or sew the two wrong sides together.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the other end.

Your head band looks great as it is, but if you want to make it a little more fancy, you can add rhinestones, embroidery or my personal preppy favourite, a cute homemade ribbon bow like these:

Those are just three types of bows you can make, but there are hundreds!

(P.S. Sometimes it may look like I can't spell but I spell the English way not the American.)

Easy dressing

Dressing stylish on a budget, or with limited space, especially on vacation, is easier than you think.
All you need is plain, colourful t-shirts and basics like denim jeans, skirts, shorts etc. Then all you need to do is accessorize.  Pile em on and go crazy! A long necklace, patterned cardigan or jacket, chunky bracelets, patterned shoes, big earrings, the possibilities are endless!
A great place to get cheap, cute accessories is forever 21, or just make them yourself like me!

School sucks

this post contains: ranting on school
  1. my school uniform is the worst uniform in the world!
  • its ugly: a maroon pinafore with a sweet-heart neckline (waste of a gorgeous neckline) with 1-inch pleats from the waist until 3 inches below the knee with a horrible polyester peter pan collar shirt with sleeves so big they look like wings
  • it's hot: did you read what I just wrote?!
  • it's heavy: that pinafore material is thick!

Just read this blog!

Hi!!!
I apologise for my absence but i was robbed of a computer because the old family computer died on me. Thank god for the ministry of education and my wonderful prime mister for my lovely FREE computer! Now, since it's MY LAPTOP, I hope to improve the world's fashion sense in a more dedicated manor, and inform all of you of the horrible adventures of secondary/high school in a poor attempt to  vent my anger against everything from fat people wearing ill-fitting clothes to bad teachers who give low marks.
Now, let the ranting and fashion begin!

Pretty finger nails!

I did my nails today and the came out awesome!
they're not the best photos but they are really pretty.
The index finger: dark blue nail-polish with black shatter
The middle finger: clear coat covered with aqua glitter
The ring finger: aqua nail-polish with black shatter
And for meggyums, The pinkie finger: clear coat dipped in silver glitter*

On my thumb is...
1.  nail growth system
2. aqua nail-polish
3. clear coat
4. dark blue nail-polish stripes
5. clear coat
6. black shatter
7. clear coat with a sprinkle of glitter
8. one last clear coat
All applied in order! WOW!

You can imagine it took long! But just one problem, I only did one hand! That's why my cousin will be doing it for me tonight! :D

*To do the glitter nail, just get the finest glitter you can find, the finer the easier, and a bottle of clear coat (top coat). You don't need much glitter, just about a table spoon (I have half a pound!). Apply the clear coat and while it's still wet, and either dip your finger in the glitter or keep sprinkling until you can no longer see the nail. Then apply a clear coat and wait for it to dry. Apply a couple more coats until the surface is fairly smooth. This also works with coloured nail-polish and a light sprinkle.*

the low down - Patterns

They say you shouldn't mix patterns, but every rule has exceptions, these are some of them-:
  • Something like a big floral print skirt or plaid pants is best balanced with a plain top, but a small polka-dot with colours of the same hues or shade also works. Or even a shadow stripe tee. (shadow stripe is just stripes in one colour with a darker shade stripe of the same colour, making it look like a shadow)
  • Another thing that works well with a big print is a plain top with some detailing at the neckline to add some interest, like this one, after all, the pattern is at the bottom of the tank, not the top!

the purple in this t-shirt brings out the purple in the shorts
  • Plaid shorts are really popular these days and an interesting change from the usual is like i said above a detailed neckline or... A CUTE GRAPHIC TEE! with a background colour that picks up a colour or goes with a colour in the plaid, you've got something cute and interesting.

Now you've got the low down!
