Outfit of the day- Lilly love

Jewelry and close up on dress

the awesome back of the dress

Navy and pink dress: Lilly Pulitzer
Flower sandals: Lands' End
Starfish headband: Homemade by Meggyums to match my doggy's homemade bow tie
Jade flower bracelet: Houston China town
Pearls: ?

This is my ultimate, all time favourite dress that I have ever owed and not just because it's Lilly! I would wear this to quite possibly anyplace where "casual" is not acceptable. Anyplace! The navy fabric is zig-zag texture and is soft and thick. It's so well made I didn't even know it had a zip until my cousin pointed it out, but that may just be because I was so excited to get the dress. I love the little key hole in the back which for me just makes the dress. I think this requires simple jewelry to showcase it's beauty. What's more simple than pearls? Pink sandals complete the outfit and a simple quiet purse would do fine.

Bespectacled Bloggers?

Hey!
I hope you've been enjoying my Outfit of the days, and I really would love to hear from you so don't be afraid to comment or email me.
Most pictures that I've seen of fashion bloggers show that they wear glasses. Now I don't know if they thinks it's style or if that's just the truth of how many people in the world have bad eye-sight. I hate to admit it but I am one of those bloggers with glasses. Now this isn't for fashion, I'm blind like a bat thanks to my blood. I would have to admit though my glasses are pretty fashionable (mis-matched temples just like my socks!) I do have contacts but only for sports.
I'm sad because Meggyums went back to Galveston but nevertheless, have a nice day!

Outfit of the day: Accessorize!

                                                                Top: Lands' end
                                                                 Jeans: Fox
Cardigan: United Colors of Benetton
Vintage Indian Dupatta (wrap): Ebay
Rain ballet flats: Sperry top-sider
Clutch: Coach
Leopard print cardigan: New York and Company
Peep toe sling-backs: Anne Klein: AK Anne Klein
Hemp and wire lariat: Handmade by me!
Clutch: Coach
Beaded feather headband: a gift from my cousin

In my opinion, this outfit of a simple grey top and plain dark jeans is transformed using just a couple of accessories that anyone might have to create two different looks. As I said before, anyone cramped for space or going on a shopping trip might want to try this trick and carry minimal clothes and a fair amount of accessories. you may even want to carry just a couple pairs of light shoes. Have fun and be yourself!

Outfit of the day- the Globe Trotting Fashionista

Tank top:
Corduroy embroidered skirt: United Colors of Benetton
Sparkly cardigan: Cherokee
Scarf: United Colors of Benetton
Knit beanie: United Colors of Benetton
Tights: Macy's
Glitter ballet flats: Gap

I wore this exact same outfit (with different silver ballet flats) in New York to see Mary Poppins on Broadway and looked fantastic! This is the kind of skirt that the top just has to be tucked in and is made to be worn on the waist, not the hip. I love how purple goes with everything. That cardigan is my go to cardi as where I live is often too hot for a hoodie. It was well worth it's $15 in target and washes well. The purple tights are sparkly and look better on than off. This is the perfect outfit for any globe trotting fashionista!

Outfit of the day- Pink perfect

Square neck eyelet top: Lands' end
Hot pink shorts: Roxy
Tote: Lilly Pulitzer originals
Plaid boat shoes: Sperry top-sider
Knee socks: Little miss matched (limited edition from a couple seasons ago)
Bead and wire lariat: Hand made by me!
Wire bracelet: Hand made by me! (wire from Amazon and Micheals

This is a typical outfit for me to wear, despite all the stares i get, I'm accustomed. Even if I'm not wearing this I get the stares, a knee brace does not help you self esteem. Anyway, this outfit is probably a bit over the top but I mean, who couldn't love pink and green? (My favourite colour of course!) You can't say it doesn't match because it does. There's really no explaining to do here. All I can say is that Lilly Pulitzer would be proud!

ribbon bows- half bow

Ribbon lengths: one 5" piece | one 1 1/2" piece
1. fold one end of the 5" piece over pattern side down two thirds the way down and glue/ sew so that you have a loop and a "tail" aproximately the same length.
2. wrap the 1 1/2" piece around the joint and glue/ sew.
3. finish "tail"

P.S. in the photo for step 2, you can see the gorgeous design on my nail that I created using my imitation Konad from Bundle Monster. And no that is just normal white nail polish from Hoof Hands.

Outfit of the day- Pattern-tastic

Close up on those awesome shorts.
Striped top: Ralph Lauren
Plaid shorts: United Colors of Benetton
Madras purse: Tommy Hilfiger
Flower sandals: Lands' End
Pearl earrings: A jewelry store

This here is a perfect example of pattern mixing. The plaid on the shorts are very subtle, so subtle that I can wear it with almost anything. The stripe on the top is very small so the two patterns don't overwhelm each other. For the pop of colour I added the purse which to some people could be too much, with everything being a pattern, but I love it! The floral sandals are a neutral navy, and I wear it with everything. I have these slippers in four colours! Of course pearls go with everything and add a classic touch to this outfit to pull it all together.

ribbon headbands- bows

Hey!
Nautical Prep asked me a really long time ago how to make the bows for my ribbon headbands. Sorry for only now posting this.
All you need is some ribbon, less than a foot and a glue gun or needle and thread. The bow looks best if it is the same ribbon as the headband itself or a coordinating solid colour if you used a patterned fabric. I'm gong to show you how to make three stylish and simple bows in three easy steps.

Classic bow

Ribbon lengths: one 5" piece | one 1 1/2" piece
  1. join the two ends on the 5" piece together to make a loop.
  2. glue/ sew the middle of the loop down to the joint in ribbon to form two loops with a flat bit in the middle
  3. glue the 1 1/2" piece around the middle to finish.

 Half bow

Ribbon lengths: one 5" piece | one 1 1/2" piece
  1. fold one end of the 5" piece over pattern side down two thirds the way down and glue/ sew so that you have a loop and a "tail" aproximately the same length.
  2. wrap the 1 1/2" piece around the joint and glue/ sew.
  3. finish "tail"

Jazzy classic bow

Ribbon lengths: one 6" piece | one 4" piece | 1 1/2"piece
  1. Make a classic bow
  2. glue/ sew (glue is better here) the middle of the bow to the middle of the four inch piece
  3. finish the ends of the 4" piece

Meggyums' Outfit of the day- Beach Break

Dress: H&M
Cropped blazer: H&M
Eyelet bikini: Lands' End Canvas
Tote: Lauren | Ralph Lauren
Sandals: Birkenstock Gizeh
Sugar Starfish clip: Handmade by Meggyums!

There's nothing I like more than going to the beach or relaxing on a boat. The tote stores all my sea-side supplies (including sunscreen!) with room for a large beach towel. A white eyelet swimsuit is cute but still grown up and shows off a great tan! Red sandals add some colour to the blue overtones of the whole outfit and tie in the red on the tote (plus could you get more nautical than blue, red and white???). The dress acts as a suitable cover-up après-swim and the cropped blazer transitions the cotton dress from the yacht to cocktails at the club bar in one easy step. I love bowclips in my hair but I switch to starfish in the summertime or at the seaside. Similar ones can be found on Etsy but I went the cheaper route and made my own. A sure conversation piece!
